The exuberant painting of Suzanne Blondin is inundated with dance, music and radiant colour. And yet the work depicts very intimate human moments.
Blondin’s characters may be dancing, overflowing with lively energy, or absorbed in a small task, or even immersed in their siesta. In each instance the artist fills her canvas with a panoply of interweaving lines – straight, curved, zig-zagged, squares, circles, geometric patterns and checkerboard motifs.
The effect is vibrant. And the intimate scenes invoked by Suzanne Blondin always glow through the juxtaposition of colours – pure and warm, bright, indeed thunderous.
