Louis Hughes's paintings are vivid scenes charged with the atmosphere, color and soul of Quebec's great outdoors scenery.
Hughes profiles his landscapes in depth, interposing visual planes. He carefully places his subjects, whose white presence is enhanced by the colors of their bright or fading autumn surroundings.
Whereas Louis Hughes loves to apply touches of acrylic to his canvases in bold or intense colors, he equally excels in animating pure whites and illuminating barren landscapes.
